Founder of EMDR Miami

Sambra Zaoui, LCSW, is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR psychotherapist and
Sensorimotor practitioner I, specializing in trauma interventions. She serves as an
assistant professor of social work at Barry University for the past 15 years, where she lectures on advanced clinical skills, the neurobiology of trauma and further presents nationally and locally her work with
survivors of complex trauma.

In her private practice, EMDR MIAMI, INC., she works with individuals, couples, and
families who have trauma histories. Her expertise includes addressing complex trauma,
developmental trauma, PTSD, sexual assault, depression, anxiety, addictions,
marital conflict, attachment issues, and multigenerational transmissions, as well as
perinatal and postpartum depression. Mrs. Zaoui wholeheartedly embraces the
neuroscience perspective that trauma is stored in the nervous system. She believes that
effective healing requires practitioners to utilize somatic psychotherapeutic approaches,
which facilitate the body’s release of what trauma holds captive. By integrating these
techniques into her practice, she helps clients access and process their experiences at
both the emotional and physical levels, promoting holistic healing and transformation.

Through her compassionate approach and 25 years of devotion to her clients, Sambra
Zaoui has developed a deep understanding that supports her clients’ journeys toward
emotional release, increased self-awareness, and a sense of locus of control. She
collaborates with clients to reauthor their old, debilitating narratives, recognizing that the
stories we tell ourselves shape our experiences. While she emphasizes the importance
of addressing the neurobiology and emotional aspects of trauma, she also focuses on
the narratives that contribute to ongoing pain and multigenerational transmissions. By
inviting the body into the healing process and addressing these personal and collective
stories, Sambra empowers clients to create new, healthier narratives that promote new
neural networks that solidify the healing and growth emotionally, spiritually and
cognitively.
